Don't you sometimes wish the constant barrage of holiday cheer would...not cease entirely, but slow down to a crawl and become so hushed as to be almost inaudible, whispers in the snow? This album to is the answer to all your quietest December dreams, and also a cheeky but earnest tribute to the ethereal, soul-flossing music of the Wandelweiser composers' collective. The music is not of the Wandelweiser school per se, but draws on those composers' deep engagement with silence and slowness, with gentleness and the sort of beauty you have to lean in to hear. Speaking of which, we strongly recommend that you listen to these pieces on good headphones or speakers, as many of the sounds are at the threshold of audibility.
